Investment management companies like The Burney Company choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing.

Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.The only personal information that The Burney Company collects and maintains regarding its Clients and their finances is that provided by the Client to the Portfolio Manager (PM) (this includes your social security number, date of birth, income, net worth and other similar information), financial records maintained by the PM and financial information and reports regarding the Client’s account sent to the PM or Burney Company by the brokerage that has custody of the Client’s holdings.

To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.While Client information is kept confidential by Burney Company and the PM, all financial companies need to share customers’ personal information to run their everyday business.

The Burney Company does not share your information with unaffiliated third parties except as follows:

  • To process your transactions or maintain your account(s)
  • To respond to court orders, legal investigations and inquiries by the SEC and state securities agenciesIn the course of financial or compliance audits with service providers that assist Burney Company with digital media, data management, analysis and storage.
  • Except for court orders, legal investigations and inquiries by the SEC and state securities agencies, we require unaffiliated third parties to be legally bound to maintain the confidentiality of your personal information.

 

Due to the types of services Burney Company provides, you cannot opt out of the sharing listed above.

Federal law gives you the right to limit sharing of your personal information with affiliates or non-affiliates for use in marketing to you or sharing information about your creditworthiness.

However, Burney Company does not share your information for those purposes. The Burney Company is not affiliated with any third party brokerages, providers of investment services, or government agencies.

The Burney Company is keenly aware of the need to protect Client privacy.  Policies recognizing this need and ensuring privacy are included in the written agreement The Burney Company has with all of its PMs.
