About the Role

We’re hiring a Senior Tax Manager to expand our capacity for sophisticated tax planning in Nashville. This is not a compliance-heavy seat. You’ll spend most of your time on proactive strategy: pass-through entity planning, retirement tax strategy, and tax-efficient wealth transfer. We’re also investing in AI-assisted tools to absorb the routine compliance grind, so the people in this seat stay focused on the high-value advisory work that actually moves the needle for clients.

This role is based in our Brentwood, TN office. You’ll report to our Director of Tax and work closely with the Burney Wealth advisory team on joint client engagements.

What You’ll Do

• Lead advanced tax planning engagements for high-net-worth clients including individuals, families, estates, and trusts, as well as business owners where applicable.
• Collaborate with Burney Wealth advisors in joint client meetings to deliver integrated tax and financial planning.
• Prepare and review complex individual, estate, trust, and fiduciary returns (Forms 1041, 706, 709) alongside partnerships and S-corp returns where needed.
• Bring planning opportunities to clients proactively, before they become missed opportunities.
• Help build the tax practice over time, including systems, capacity, and eventually a team beneath you.
• Stay current on tax law changes and translate them into clear, actionable guidance for clients.

What You Bring

• CPA required; advanced degree (MST or LLM in Tax) strongly preferred
• 5+ years of tax experience with demonstrated depth in high-net-worth individual, estate, and trust returns — comfort with Forms 1041, 706, and 709 is essential
• Experience with pass-through entities, S-corps, and business owner tax planning is a strong plus
• Experience working alongside or within a wealth management or RIA environment is a real differentiator
• You can explain complex tax strategy in plain language, to clients and to colleagues who aren’t tax people
